Meet The Artist
Gary Richardson – Artist
I was born in Norton, Virginia in 1957, and grew up in Wise, Virginia, surrounded by the beauty and culture of Appalachia. After high school, I served in the United States Marine Corps, all while pursuing my love of music. Following my service, I married and became a proud father of two beautiful daughters, Laura and Sarah.
I earned a bachelor's degree in radiologic science in 1999 while attending college at the University of Connecticut and went on to work at University of North Carolina Medical Center and a PRN position at Duke University Medical Center. Throughout this time, I performed and traveled as a Bluegrass musician across the United States, keeping my creative spirit alive.
Due to health issues, I retired from medicine and turned to another lifelong passion: art. Having dabbled in painting since high school, I now paint daily, using my work as a way to express my experiences, emotions, and stories. My life’s journey through service, music, family, and art continues to inspire the peaceful stories I tell through my paintings.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
